The Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie supports The Easter Seal Society, Ontario by presenting the local Easter Seal Telethon, Penny Power for Easter Seals and Snowarama. The club also supports the Algoma Therapeutic Ride program, offers bursaries to secondary and post-secondary schools, offers a student exchange program and group study exchange program, and organizes both the Rotary District Science Fair and the Sault Ste. Marie Sports Awards program.
The club's major fundraising efforts are:
- ROTARYFEST, The Sault's Summer Festival, held annually the third weekend of July
- An annual car draw associated with ROTARYFEST
- The Bell Celebrity Skate and Swim held annually in November
- The Battle of the Sections held annually at the Soo Greyhounds hockey game in February
90th Birthday Celebration
On Friday, June 20, 2008, the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario will celebrate its 90th anniversary. Our special guest will be Rotary International President Wilf Wilkinson.
Dinner and celebrations will be held at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre. Please join us! And remember seating is limited. Print the attached form and fax, mail or drop off to the Rotary office.

2008 EASTER SEALS TELETHON

Doug Powell, President 2007-2008, presents a cheque to Easter Seals Telethon host, Jim Cronin, for $32,500 at The Easter Seals Telethon in Sault Ste. Marie on Sunday, April 6, 2008. Easter Seals, an organization that services the 160 disabled children, youth and young adults in the Sault Ste. Marie area, continues to be the primary charitable mandate of the club. Not only does the club proudly assist the Telethon financially, but as the Presenter, many of the volunteers who make the Telethon possible are Rotarians and/or their spouses. The 9 hour event raised $116,804.10 locally for the charity.
